WRFD to Apply for Grant for New Portable Radios

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Last night, city officials approved a request to apply for a grant for an upgrade to Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department portable radios.

The grant will be in the amount of $244,050, with the city only required to put up $11,621 of the 95/5 grant match. Funds would come through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, which comes by way of FEMA.

If the grant is approved, the needed $11,621 from the city is available in the department budget.
