The Wisconsin Rapids police department pledged their support of the Special Olympics with it's 30th annual law enforcement torch run on Thursday afternoon.
A crew of nearly a dozen police, including Police Chief Kurt Heuer, joined together to bike approximately 20 miles down Highway 66 to Stevens Point to meet with Marshfield and Portage police departments. This year, $74,000 was raised, locally.
"We're celebrating 30 million dollars in those 30 years we've raised," said Eric Daven, Wisconsin Rapids police.
This will kick off the Special Olympics this weekend, held in Stevens Point.
