Stuff the School Bus to Accept Pre-Registrations

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Stuff the School Bus committee for south Wood County will soon be accepting applications for free school supplies that will be distributed August 19, 2017, 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln High School (1801 16th St. S., Wisconsin Rapids).
Families who wish to receive free school supplies need to pre-register from May 1, 2017 to July 21, 2017.
To pre-register to receive free school supplies:
- Online registration is required at the United Way of Inner Wisconsin website at www.uwiw.org.
- Families who do not have internet access can register by phone by dialing 2-1-1 (or 877-947-2211) Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Registrations must be completed by July 21, 2017. In early August, families will receive a postcard informing them of their time-slot for pick up during Stuff the Desk on August 19, 2017.
Stuff the School Bus will be asking local businesses and individuals to collect/donate school supplies from July 10 – August 3, 2017. School supplies must be dropped off at the Stuff the School Bus drive on August 3rd during Lunch by the River at Veteran’s Memorial Park (11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.); or in the case of rain, at Witter Field.
Stuff the School Bus is a community collaborative effort to collect and distribute school supplies to students in need. All families who are in financial need are eligible. For more information, please contact United Way’s 2-1-1.
About the Stuff the School Bus/Stuff the Desk Committee
Stuff the School Bus is a collaborative effort of several local non-profit, government and school agencies including: Caring Closet, Nekoosa School District, Port Edwards School District, the UW Extension Office, United Way of Inner Wisconsin and Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools.
Every year, the Stuff the School Bus/Stuff the Desk Committee asks the community to stuff a school bus with donations of school supplies. The event is held during Lunch by the River. Later, the donated school supplies are distributed to local students in need during the Stuff the Desk event. All families who are in financial need are eligible.
