United Way Vounteer Opportunity Column for Week of March 14

United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties on a weekly basis. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.
LOWELL CENTER-Bingo Assistant: Job Responsibilities: Assist Bingo Caller by helping to call back numbers, hand out prizes, and coordinate the process of finding a winner for tie games. Bingo is played twice monthly, on the first and third Thursday, from 1:30 until approximately 3:30 p.m. From October through May, there is an additional bingo offered on the third Sunday of the month.
Blood Pressure Screening Receptionist (Back-up): Every Tuesday for one and a half to two hours, you will register clients in sign-in book and assign a number to each client. You will also have to call out numbers for an individual’s turn. This position is currently filled, but we would like to have a back-up Receptionist.
Computer Tutor: Looking for someone proficient in computer usage to teach others to do basic things such as learning to use their new computers, email, searching the web, and how to use basic computer programs such as Word, and Excel. Must be willing to at least devote one to two hours one day per week. Appointments will be set up for you. We are getting more and more requests for learning to use a tablet computer. Experience in using tablets is desirable also. Also, experience in dealing with cloud storage and photo uploading will be helpful.
Volunteer Recptionist: We are currently in need of one or two substitute Receptionists.
Job duties include: Answer phones and greet/direct clients. There may be projects from the office staff from time to time. May be required to take new visitors on a tour of center. Training is provided. Hours and schedules are flexible to your availability, but shift would only be during office hours. Skills needed: Ability to maintain confidential information. Accuracy, being detail-oriented. Should be knowledgeable of Center’s programs (or willing to learn). Good phone etiquette and a clear voice. Computer experience helpful, but not required.
Light Housekeeping: Would you be interested in do-ing a bit of light housekeeping at Lowell Center?
A few responsibilities would include:
® Dusting window sills
® Cleaning coffee pots
® Washing down square tables in card room, computer room, and lunch areas
