Letter: Love God, Love Your Neighbor
To the Editor-
Sometimes, O.K., most of the time we make things a lot harder than they are, I guess it is just human nature.
It all started with a Messiah over 2,000 years ago teaching us who God is. Over the years we have found ways to disagree about his teachings and now there are over 20,000 different denominations. Instead of finding ways to divide us how about finding ways to unite us? It is not complicated, not easy, but not complicated. Remember when he uncomplicated it;
Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? He (Jesus) said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Jesus (Mathew 22:36-40)
Simple, love God and love your neighbor, that is not complicated. Yet it is often “Christians” that will find some reason to not love their neighbor. Webster’s defines a Christian as “a person who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ”. So look around. Those that are loving their neighbors are following the teaching of Jesus. Simple, not always easy, but certainly simple.
