WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A portion of the Riverview Expressway in Wisconsin Rapids was closed for several hours June 17 in the afternoon because of an overturned truck.

The driver of the semi trailer was turning from Eighth Street onto the Riverview Expressway when the truck tipped over. Initial attempts to get the truck upright were unsuccessful. Its cargo had to be unloaded before it was placed back on its wheels around 7 p.m. The trailer contained a load of cardboard.

The truck driver, whose name hasn’t been released, was not hurt.

Wisconsin Rapids police had asked drivers to avoid the intersection, which had extensive back-ups through the late afternoon.
