Heart of Wisconsin chamber to host ribbon cutting for East Grand Avenue
For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the opening of East Grand Avenue.
While phase two construction is still underway, the chamber and city of Wisconsin Rapids want to recognize local businesses that have been impacted by the construction.
A ribbon cutting will be held Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., in the St. John Evangelist Church parking lot, 320 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids.
After the ribbon cutting guests are encouraged to network with businesses. Lunch will be available for purchase, with the event ending at 1 p.m.
Third Street and Lincoln Street /East Jackson Street is now open to cross traffic. Stage 1 of the construction process is anticipated to be open soon. Work started with the West Grand Avenue reconstruction project in 2011 and reconstruction of the Eighth Street South and East Grand Avenue intersection in 2017.
Funding became available through the State Transportation Program to fund the reconstruction of East Grand Avenue in 2015 and construction plans have been in development since that time. The work includes new pavement, sidewalk, curb & gutters, streetscape, benches, bike lanes, landscaping, and underground utilities.
