Letter from the Publisher: Shining friends at the bottom of the universe

Dear reader,

Every now and then some of us drop to the bottom of the universe. Maybe we hit a stretch of bad health or lose a loved one or encounter a significant economic loss. It’s real and severe and something we must deal with so we do. That’s where and when we meet those scarce friends who help us out through support and disciplined navigation between the shoals.

Hope can be a scant commodity during the turbulence but generally it can be found in someone you love or once loved. It can originate from a parent or a spouse or a child or a friend, or even a stranger depending on the time and circumstance.

The point is, if you ever go there, you have to believe that better days are ahead because they generally are. Somehow you have to muster the strength to put in whatever is needed to run the gauntlet in order to find your inner peace again.

Once the waters are calm, don’t forget to thank those who rode the trail with you. For without them, you would probably be still staring into the abyss.
