Dear editor,

I am writing this letter to urge voters to re-elect Zach Vruwink as Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids.

Zach’s roots run deep in Wisconsin Rapids.  He was born and educated here. After graduating from UW-SP, he chose Wisconsin Rapids with commitment, a passion and a vision to make this city a better place.

Zach understands what it takes to make and keep this community a vital, vibrant and growing community.  The work done on the riverfront showcases the beautiful asset we have and encourages tourism.  The creation of bike lanes and paths allows for safe and family friendly activities.  It’s an exciting time for our city.

Zach understands the importance of attracting and retaining businesses.  Matalco is under construction and will provide 80 jobs.   A significant investment in the downtown along Grand Avenue and at Alexander Field helps to make our city appealing to businesses looking for a place to locate.

Despite budget challenges, new police and firefighters were added to help ensure our city will continue to be a safe city.

Every municipality faces challenges.  I believe Zach has faced these challenges and has led the city through the downsizing of a major employer, a devastating storm now a pandemic.  I believe he leads with the same passion, vison and commitment that he possessed when he chose Wisconsin Rapids as his home.

It is an exciting time for our city.  Please re-elect Zach Vruwink as Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids.
