Letter to the Editor: A thank you to the mayor

Dear editor,

I moved back to Wisconsin Rapids – my home town – 12 years ago.  After living most of my adult life in Madison and Los Angeles, I was a bit nervous about returning to a town that had changed so much from when I was a kid.

It is with great pleasure that I have watched the new projects going on in Rapids the last few years, under Mayor Vruwink’s leadership.

I live on Third Street and have the new recreational path as my sidewalk.  Despite my apprehension about that whole project, I have become a big fan.  The path has been getting extensive use this past year by families, bikers and people walking dogs. I have met lots of new friends.

There has been heavy use these past days of being “safer at home.” People need to get outside for exercise and enjoyment, and they appear to be enjoying walking along the beautiful Wisconsin River.

Thank you Mayor Vruwink for getting this project, and your other forward-thinking projects done.  All are making Rapids a better place to live.  Hoping to have you here to lead for another term.
