WOOD COUNTY – A south Wood County man is dead after he was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle. The crash occurred shortly before midnight on the Fourth of July along County Highway F, in the town of Sigel.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, an ATV driven by Natalie J. Brown, 54, of Wisconsin Rapids, was leaving an address at 6499 County Highway F when she struck a culvert, ejecting both occupants onto the road.

The 67-year-old passenger—Robert J. Brown—was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was airlifted to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. The names of those involved are not being released at this time, pending the notification of relatives. The Wisconsin DNR is still investigating the crash.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wood County Sheriff’s Rescue, the Vesper Fire Department, United Ambulance, Aspirus MedEvac, the state patrol, and the DNR.
