WOOD COUNTY – On Oct. 5, shortly before 4:30 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 186 north of Grant Road in the township of Hansen.

“Initial investigation determined that two vehicles traveling northbound on State Highway 186 were stopped for a school bus when a vehicle also traveling northbound on State Highway 186 crashed into the two vehicles that were stopped,” a Wood County Sheriff’s release stated.

“The operator of the striking vehicle was airlifted by Spirit Medical Transport and an operator of another vehicle was transported by Pittsville Ambulance. Both were transported to the Marshfield Medical Center with injuries.”

Those involved in the crash were identified as Laura B. Selig, 30, Pueblo West, CO; Rachel A. Schmuhl, 34, Arpin; and Gavin L. Tallman Christianson, 19, Arpin.

A portion of State Highway 186 was closed for approximately one hour.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by the Vesper Fire Department, Pittsville Fire Department, and Spirit Medical Transport.

The crash remains under investigation.
