Coming together for Ukraine refugees
For the City Times
TOWN OF SARATOGA – Hearing the news from half a world away, Sue and Ken Brzezinski put out a flyer to all residents of Pirco Senior Mobile Home Park in Saratoga, asking residents to gather together and make blankets for the babies, toddlers, children and adults fleeing from their homes in Ukraine.
Fifteen women came forward immediately to do whatever was needed to bring some comfort to those fleeing their homes, by making hand-made blankets.
Not knowing how many residents would come forward, those 15 women completed over 30 blankets in two days, and are continuing to do so.
Thirty blankets were shipped to Poland on March 24.
The second batch of about 20 blankets will be on their way to the Ukrainian refugees in early April.
