WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink will run for reelection in 2020.
“When I first ran to be your Mayor, I pledged to Renew Rapids through thoughtful, energetic and engaged leadership,” Vruwink said in a letter to his supporters. “In the years since, progress is evident. My administration has brought a renewed focus to implementing formerly shelved plans, seeking outside investment to support infrastructure, and promoting redevelopment of vacant and blighted properties.
Vruwink, 32, was elected to the seat in 2012. Since then, he has developed the Mayor’s Youth Council, and has worked toward redevelopment of the city’s riverfront and the Witter Field aquatic center. He was recently selected as the Wisconsin League of Wisconsin Municipalities president.
