Niche Local, a website ranking neighborhoods and communities, has ranked Wisconsin Rapids the 15th safest town in Wisconsin.

The Town of Grand Rapids has been ranked as the 4th Safest Town in Wisconsin by ValuePenquin, and 5th safest by the Niche Report.

“Our officers are serious about the safety and security of all residents of the Town of Grand Rapids,
as well as the visitors who come to enjoy the peace and quiet of our community,” said Grand Rapids Police Chief Mel Pedersen. “With the great community support and cooperation, our department is better able to serve everyone, residents and visitors alike.”

Grand Rapids Town Chairman Arne Nystrom called the ranking an “honor” via a press release.

“[The ranking] is a community honor attributable to the cooperation and leadership of many. The residents of Grand Rapids, town employees, Police Department, Fire Department, town crew, Town Board and all the various town committees played a significant part in achieving this recognition,” Nystrom said.

The rankings were calculated by a variety of factors including crime rates, location and population.

“As the town chairman and a board member for over 20 years I am proud to see that our efforts to provide great police, fire and EMS services have been recognized,” Nystrom added.

Taking the top spot for safest town was Mayville, Wis. in Dodge County. For the study, a town was excluded if it was a suburb or had more than 100,000 residents.

Niche Local’s website says they offer rankings and statistics on every neighborhood and city in the U.S. to help people find the best places to live, visit, and raise a family.
