Central Wisconsin CAFO Controversy on WPR’s Route 51

For the City Times
Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 looks at the issues surrounding plans to locate a large scale dairy farm, a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO), in the Town of Saratoga in Wood County on Thursday.
Host Glen Moberg will moderate a discussion with three members of the opposition group Protect Wood County: Wood County Board Member Bill Leichtnam, Town of Saratoga businesswoman Rhonda Carrell, and lakefront homeowner Don Ystad.
The program will also feature John Holevoet, Government Affairs Director of the Wisconsin Dairy Business Association. The proposed Golden Sands Dairy would have 5300 animals on 7000 acres, with much of the land also used for agriculture.
Golden Sands owner Jim Wysocki declined our invitation to appear on the program.
