Rafters Sweep Bombers, Improve to 28-33
The Rafters are four wins away from the franchise’s single season record after defeating the Battle Creek, Mich., Bombers 14-9 and completing the series sweep Sunday evening.
The entire roster crossed home plate Sunday night for the win with infielder Zach Domingues of Long Beach State and Ernie Clement of Virginia leading the team with a combined 5 runs. Brock Carpenter of Seattle earned himself 4 RBIs and lefty hitter Ryan Cleveland hit his 7th home run of the season.
The Northwoods League team improves their record to 28-33 and they remain in 6th place in the Southern Division, 4 games behind the Lakeshore Chinooks.
The Rafters defeated the Bombers 9-4 in the first game of the series after a 4 game losing streak to the Eau Claire Express and Lakeshore Chinooks. This was the Rafters 2nd sweep in a week after defeating the Green Bay Bullfrogs on July 27 and 28.
The Rafters return home today for a triple header against the rival Wisconsin Woodchucks at 4:05 PM.
