Mid-State Board Certifies Tax Levy
For the City Times
The Mid-State Technical College Board of Directors on Monday authorized $10,360,732 for the 2015-16 property tax levy.
Mid-State’s tax rate will remain relatively unchanged from the previous year, remaining constant at 83 cents per $1,000. The total tax on a $100,000 home will be $83.44, just eight cents more than the previous year.
The college’s Board of Directors is required to certify the tax levy for the current fiscal year and notify municipalities by October 31.
Technical college tax rates are based on equalized value within the college district (rather than the municipalities and taxpayers assessed value). The valuation of Mid-State’s district increased 2% to $12.4 billion.
Mid-State’s levy is still only half of what it was two years ago, when the state infused $406 million into annual property tax relief for the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).
