A dedication ceremony was held November 11 for the Pat Buehler Memorial that will be displayed at the Port Edwards School District Environmental Learning Center.
Pat Buehler was a longtime resident of Port Edwards who passed away on August 26, 2014. Donations for the memorial were submitted to the Port Edwards Education Foundation to use at their discretion. Because of Pat’s interest in birding and wildlife, the foundation decided to have quilted wall hangings made and hung in the Port Edwards School District Environmental Learning Center.
Additionally, resources from the memorial also provided educational technology for the Environmental Learning Center. The wall hangings represent Pat’s love and dedication to both the environment and education.
The dedication ceremony was attended by members of Buehler family, members of the Port Edwards Education Foundation Board, school district personnel and many community residents. The quilted wall hangings were made by Karen Isaacson who is both a member of the Port Edwards Education Foundation Board and the Reading Specialist for the Port Edwards School District.
“Pat was an avid bird watcher and environmentalist, she was a very charming lady,” said Ed Heuer, President of the Port Edwards Education Foundation.
“The school district is excited to receive the wildlife wall hangings and technology for use at the Environmental Learning Center, this will really help make the facility inviting to all who use the space,” said Kyle Cronan, Superintendent for the Port Edwards School District.
