Wisconsin Rapids Man Charged with Child Abuse

By Joe Bachman
After his December arrest, a Wisconsin Rapids man faces repeat charges of child abuse, bail jumping and possession of heroin with intent to sell.
Michael D. Napoleon, 23, faces a judge on Jan. 12 for sentencing on a previous case of heroin possession, as well as a preliminary hearing for his new charges.
According to police reports, Napoleon’s 15-year-old girlfriend was being treated at an area hospital for a swollen hand when doctors suspected she was a runaway. The girl told responding police officers she had been abused by Napoleon and ran way in an effort to leave him.
The girl told police Napoleon had struck her a few weeks prior, and when she asked him to stop he slapped her on the head, also alleging he berated her and was controlling and jealous.
Napoleon had been attempting to force the girl off her birth control pills so she would become pregnant, according to the girl’s statement.
Court records indicate Napoleon has a long history of criminal charges, to include drug-related offenses and bail-jumping.
