A 53-year-old woman could face jail time for her ninth OWI.

Cheryl Mork, of Wisconsin Rapids, has been charged with operating while intoxicated, and is her ninth charged offense. According to police reports, on Dec. 29, 2015, a deputy received a report of a green Pontiac Grand Am traveling all over the roadway with a front flat tire near the intersection of 48th St. South in the Town of Saratoga.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop by the corner of 48th St. South and Spruce Ave., where Mork initially stopped her vehicle in the middle of the road, before eventually pulling over to the right side of the road. The deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol from inside the vehicle, and the defendant was reported to have slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

A sobriety test was administered and Mork did very poorly. It is noted that Mork had two pennies inside of her mouth due to her not wanting to have bad breath after eating a roast beef sandwich. Tests would conclude that Mork had a blood alcohol level of .161.

Mork has eight prior convictions of operating while intoxicated since 1989 and if convicted faces up to 10 years imprisonment and up to $25,000 in fines. Mork is currently out on a $5,000 bond.
