Alderman Lee Thao was honored at last night’s common council meeting for his term serving on the council.

Thao served in place of Chad Wirl, who stepped down as District 1 Alderperson in November of 2015. Thao sits on the board of Hmong Association of Wood County, and is the leader of the Hmong 18 Council of Wisconsin.

“We hope that you express interest in one of the many wards or commissions or committees, and we appreciate your time,” said Mayor Zach Vruwink.

Thao was presented a plaque in honor of his short term as district 1 alderperson.

“I want to thank the council and the mayor for allowing me the opportunity to serve on the city council,” said Thao. “I also want to thank the constituents of district 1 for allowing me to represent them for the five months that I was in office.”

Thao plans on staying involved in the community and in government in any way he can. Joe Zurfluh will take over his position as the new district 1 alderperson.
