Mid-State Technical College (Mid-State) recently held simultaneous commencements in Marshfield, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids. The College celebrated the graduation of students who have completed their associate degree or technical diploma.

At the Wisconsin Rapids Campus ceremony, Dr. Sue Budjac, Mid-State president, highlighted two graduating students, Luke Haas, Arpin, and Michelle Winrich, Plover. The two were selected for recognition based on outstanding hard work and sacrifice toward completing their degree programs.

Winrich (Administrative Professional), on her own since the age of 16, fulfilled her dream to graduate from college “no matter what circumstances you come from.”  Her journey included juggling two part-time jobs and family life with two young children and a husband.

From the start of his time at Mid-State, Haas (Urban Forestry Technician) had set out to graduate with highest honors. He achieved that goal, earning “Graduate of Distinction” status. When asked how he did it, he stated, “You just have to study and have confidence to do well.”

Both students have already accepted offers of full-time employment.
