Wisconsin Rapids residents are encouraged to race against cancer, as the sixth annual 5k walk/run will kick off on Jun. 11.

Inspired by Renaissance employees who lost their battles with cancer, this race gives anyone the opportunity to honor friends and loved ones affected by cancer. All proceeds go to the Patient Care Fund at the UW Cancer Center Riverview.

This will help fund life saving treatment, access to medications, and necessary supplies not covered by insurance. Over 700 participants and over 100 volunteers took part in last year’s race. In addition to the 5K, there will be a 10K run exclusive to this year’s race.

Admission is $30 for 5K, and $35 for 10K. Kids can run free of charge. This event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Renaissance Learning, located at 911 Peach St. in Wisconsin Rapids.
