WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Mid-State Technical College celebrated the grand opening of their new Student Services & Information Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Mid-State staff, city officials, and corporate community leaders were all on hand for the open house/ribbon cutting event. Known as “The Center”, the new 5,400 square foot facility, including a 4,200 square foot remodel, was built to centralize student resources, as well as give the entrance an updated look.
“Our employees, board of directors, and the college foundation board are all centered on student success,” said Mid-State President Sue Budjac. “If we can make changes that affect them positively, and impact our students to help them achieve their goals, then that’s what we’re all about.”
Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, six new “Friends of the Foundation” panels were unveiled that recognizes local families and businesses and their contributions to the school. From ‘Legacy’ and ‘Visionary’ status, to ‘Benefactors’ and ‘Partner’ status, well over 100 businesses were represented on the wall, which included the addition of 31 new donors, as well as moving 30 to the next level.
“This was all part of this comprehensive initiative to create a barrier-free experience for our students,” said Mid-State Vice President of Student Services Dr. Mandy Lang. “The move to this space easily connects students to the resources they need to be successful.”
“The Center” started construction in June of 2016 and completed in March of this year. Mid-State is located at 500 32nd St. North.
