WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Brittany Lawrence, a Mid-State Technical College Cosmetology student, has been awarded a $500 scholarship from Great Clips hair salons.

Lawrence graduated from the program in May but is finishing the 1,550 required hours of experience before receiving her cosmetology license.

“This is the second scholarship this academic year that Great Clips has awarded a Mid-State Cosmetology student,” said Pat Lemke, a Mid-State cosmetology instructor. “Our mission to transform lives is supported by the local businesses who invest in our students and help them strive for success after they complete their programs.”

Lawrence is well on her way to success. She was offered a position before graduation to work for the globally recognized stylist and platform artist Jesse Marcks, owner of Au Fait Salon in Madison, Wis., after working with Marcks in March, at Mid-State’s 70s-themed Flash Back Hair Show. The event was headlined by Marcks and the Brava Elite Education Team and attracted industry professionals from all over the state.

“I am very excited that both Mid-State Technical College and Great Clips have both been a part of my academics,” said Lawrence. “This scholarship has put my mind at ease knowing it will help pay for my remaining tuition and allow me to focus on starting my career.”

Information about Mid-State’s Cosmetology program can be found at www.mstc.edu/programs.
