Letter: Where Are Our Wisconsin Values?

To the Editor:

Once upon a time Wisconsin led states in education, we protected and conserved our natural resources, and we promoted stewardship between citizens and business.  As I look at the Wisconsin we have today, I openly wonder what the heck happened.

How did we as a state get so far off track that we are now at the back of the pack in almost every important area instead of leading the charge?  Is the problem really that our elected officials are not listening to constituents or is the real problem simply that Wisconsin residents have become complacent and accustomed to the status quo? Have we truly given up fighting for what we hold dear?

It is time to take back Wisconsin from those who have led us down the wrong path before Wisconsin is beyond saving.

Citizens Water Coalition of Wisconsin is sponsoring a Potluck Meet and Greet with Gubernatorial candidate Mike McCabe Tuesday August 8 from 6-8:30PM at the Nepco Lake County Park Pavilion, 1410 Griffith Ave.

McCabe was previously the director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, a nonpartisan watchdog group working for clean, open, and honest government and reforms that make people matter over money.  More recently he formed Blue Jean Nation a grassroots group that hopes to mobilize blue-jeans folks to revive a functional and fair democracy in Wisconsin.

This is a free event open to the public and to folks of all political affiliations, this is not a campaign fundraising event.   It is not often we get a political candidate reaching out to local folks right here in Central Wisconsin so let’s pack the pavilion and give him a warm Central Wisconsin welcome.

Doors will open at 5:30, bring a dish to pass, an open mind, and enjoy camaraderie with like minded individuals.  For more information on this event visit our Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/1947046305532834/
