SARATOGA — A 66-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman has succumbed to her injuries after a fatal accident on Thursday afternoon.

According to police reports, at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Nov. 23, dispatch was notified of a two-vehicle accident in the town of Saratoga in the area of Ranger Rd. and Pine Haven Ct. An on-scene investigation revealed that a woman, later identified as Cathy McNett, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign on Pine Haven Ct.

As a result, a driver in a pickup truck heading west on Ranger Rd. attempted to avoid the accident, however still struck the driver’s side of the car driven by McNett. The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries from the accident, and McNett was flown to emergency care where she was later pronounced dead.

While the accident remains under investigation, alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash. Responding agencies include: Wood Co. Sheriff’s Department, Wood Co. Rescue, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, Nekoosa Fire, and Spirit Air.
