Miner appointed as county clerk

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wood County Deputy Clerk Trent Miner has been appointed to replace former County Clerk Cynthia Cepress, whose retirement was effective July 2.
Cepress spent three decades working for the county, with 16 years in her position as clerk.
“I’ve seen a lot of changes in the last 16 years as county clerk,” she said. “I’ve worked with six county board chairmen… Over 16 years, I’ve seen the comings and goings of many, many county board supervisors and some that have surprised me about how long they have stuck around. I’ve had two outstanding deputies.”
Miner was appointed by Cepress in Feb. 2017.
The county received over 20 applications for the position, interviewing three of them, before deciding on Miner.
A unanimous vote passed Miner’s appointment, with Supervisors Adam Fischer and Lance Pliml absent.
Miner’s appointment is effective immediately and will continue through the remainder of Cepress’s term, which ends Jan. 2021.
