Rafters end home finale with win

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (33-37, 18-17 second half) won their final home game of the year 4-1 over the Green Bay Bullfrogs (28-43, 16-19 second half). The Rafters rallied in the eighth, scoring three runs to take a late lead against the Frogs.
Both teams traded runs in the second. Green Bay scored on a wild pitch and the Rafters responded a half inning later with an RBI single from Payton Robertson (Louisiana State Shreveport). The Rafters broke the 1-1 stalemate in the eighth scoring three times on three hits.
The Rafters loaded the bases on Ben Keizer with one out. Dustin Woodcock (SIU Edwardsville) brought in the go-ahead run with a hit by pitch. Brody Wofford (University of Central Florida) added on two more with a base hit to right field.
Jonathan Hernandez (Chapman) pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win. The Rafters end 20-15 at home, their third-straight season with 20 wins or more at Witter Field.
Jonathan Hernandez (3-1, 1.07 ERA) earned his third win with 2.2 innings of scoreless work. Ben Keizer (1-2, 6.08 ERA) suffered the loss, allowing three runs in the eighth.
The Rafters will play their final game of the 2018 season Aug. 12 at Joannes Stadium.
