Letter to the Editor: Candidate respects local culture

Dear editor,
I’ve included a few items which are very important to me as a resident of Wisconsin Rapids:
- Community engagement matters. Mayor Zach Vruwink is one of the most engaged and present mayors in the community. Mayor Vruwink attends so many community events and meetings, engages attentively with constituents and residents while making our community a better place to live.
- What sets Mayor Vruwink apart from many others is his outreach and efforts to support everyone in the community including marginalized communities. As a constituent who is ethnically HMong, I am proud to know that Mayor Vruwink is respectful of HMong culture and celebrations. Annually he attends HMong New Year celebrations and recognizes the importance of our presence in the Rapids community. I respect that Mayor Vruwink makes efforts to be inclusive.
- As a person in my mid-twenties who was born, raised and have lived here all my life, I see significant positive changes that make me want to continue living here. I live near the river front and enjoy it as my family and take more walks along its path since its beautification. I’m also excited about the aquatic center, even for those who don’t have children; they will enjoy it with their nieces and nephews. As a grandparent, my mom is excited to have someplace to take her grandkids.
With everything he is working on, we seem to be on the right path towards an increasingly thriving community for all. Please join me in voting Zach Vruwink for mayor. Thov suav dlawg paab xaiv tsaav Zach Vruwink ua tswv zog.
