WRPS, LHS to open newly-renovated stadium

WISCONSIN RAPIDS –Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS) and Lincoln High School (LHS) have announced the official opening of the newly-renovated South Wood County 2000 Stadium, featuring a new 10-lane track as well as the Wood Trust Bank Field.
“These state of the art renovations and updates will bring South Wood County 2000 up to current standards for playability, functionality, and technology,” a WRPS release stated.
The inaugural event at the site will be the first home football game on Aug. 19, with the Lincoln High School Red Raiders taking on the Muskego Warriors. The JV team plays at 4 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
Work continues on the “Rapids Area Sports Complex” (RASC), featuring two all turf softball fields, two all turf baseball fields, grandstands, and a concession/ restroom facility slated to open in late fall.
RASC will be used for softball, baseball, soccer, and other activities.

“We are incredibly excited about these updates to our facilities. These improvements are a significant addition to the community and will allow school and community groups to host multiple events that will not only bring people together, but also lend an economic boost locally as it attracts large numbers of people to the area.”
