For the City Times
Aspirus is pleased to welcome General Surgeon Matthew Doering, MD, FACS.
Dr. Doering evaluates and manages many types of illnesses, including abdominal pain, breast health issues, and hernias. He has a special interest in laparoscopic hernia surgery and breast health issues related to cancer.
“I want to help my patients (and their families) understand their illness, their treatment options, and that I’ll be there for them throughout their recovery, whether or not they require surgery,” said Dr. Doering. “While much of what I do does not involve surgery, I find satisfaction performing surgical procedures that can make an immediate, substantial improvement in someone’s life.”
Dr. Doering most recently practiced with Marshfield Clinic in Merrill, Weston and Wausau, performing surgery at Ministry Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill and St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in Madison and completed his residency in general surgery at St. Louis University Hospitals in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Doering is board certified in surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of General Surgeons, and the Wisconsin Medical Society.
Dr. Doering and his wife, Lori, have a blended family with four children. They enjoy backpacking, snowshoeing and other outdoor activities.
