Human Services Move to River Block to Complete in Summer
By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Human Services will be moving into the River Block offices, in a move that will save money and convenience.
Currently, Wood County Human Services can be found in three separate locations. This move will put it in one permanent location.
“The county had a space-needs study done a few years ago, and identified that the county needed more space,” said Human Services Director Brandon Vruwink. “We had some departments in spaces that weren’t working really well for them and the opportunity came up for the county to purchase the River Block building, which from a Human Services perspective was a really good thing for us.”
The move from the 12th St. location is slated for next week, while the move from the courthouse is already completed. The Centralia location will happen sometime in August.
“Now that we’re in one spot, people can come to one location instead of having to travel to use our services,” said Vruwink. “Our hope is to gain some efficiencies over time as well, as we bring our services together.”
The River Block building is located at 111 W. Jackson St.
