Riverkings Ink Two Young Returners for Coming Season
By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Division winning Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings have re-signed two forwards who played key roles in last year’s successful run.
Forwards Kyle McCauley and Maxime Bourque will make their return to the squad for this season. McCauley, a 6’2″ power forward and Lincoln High School student from Chesterfield, Mich. contributes a hard-hitting style to the Riverkings’ gameplan.
“Kyle is at his best when he plays a heavy north south style game,” said Head Coach Marty Quarters. “He has size, strong hands, hard shot, and his high compete level helps define our hard working culture.”
Bourque hails from Sherbrooke, P.Q., Qué., Canada and is an Assumption High School graduate.
“Max is a player with untapped potential,” said Quarters. “He has good size (6′ 180), can skate, is physical, goes to hard areas, is tough, and can play in all three zones, now he just needs to be more consistent, which comes with experience”.
According to Quarters, McCauley and Borque bring the needed experience to help the Riverkings make another run at a division title this coming season.
“One of the strength of last years team was we could play all four lines and we could do this because our younger players could compete and they added size and speed,” said Quarters. “Both Kyle and Max played important roles with our team last season, but as returners they will be counted on to step up and have more of a positive impact.”
