ND Paper makes expansion
By Rapids City Times staff
BIRON – ND Paper recently announced that the company is investing $189 million in its Biron paper mill.
The mill currently employs 350 workers and will add 27 new positions with the investment, which includes construction of a two-line recycled pulp facility, conversion of a paper machine to container board products, the construction of a water treatment and fiber recovery facility, a package boiler, and a warehouse.
Senator Patrick Testin noted that the expansion will help continue the paper manufacturing legacy in the area.
“The paper industry played an important role in growing our region, and paper will be part of building our future,” he said.
The improvements are a portion of $300 million in improvements being made by ND Paper in its Maine and Wisconsin facilities.
