Rafters bring 9-4 Win Over Bombers

The Rafters broke a streak of losses Saturday night as they defeated the Battle Creek, Mich., Bombers 9-4.
This is the Rafters 27th win of the summer, bringing them to a 27-33 overall record and breaking the Bombers’ recent six game winning streak and a record of 25-40 in the Northwoods League.
Bringing in the win for the Rafters was league all-star Jack Riley (UConn), his 6th of the summer. Riley pitched six innings and allowed seven hits on Saturday night, with a total five strikeouts.
Mitchell McGeein of Eastern Michigan University hit his 9th home run of the summer on Saturday night. Infielder Zach Domingues, a junior from Long Beach state, led with three hits and three runs for Rafters and Brock Carpenter from Seattle had two RBIs. Virginia freshman Ernie Clement also scored twice and got on base four times in his five stops at the plate.
The Rafters had 14 hits as a team and are currently seated 6th in the Southern Division.
