A Wisconsin Rapids woman faces charges of battery, domestic abuse, theft and disorderly conduct after multiple incidents with roommates.

Sonya St. Peter, 37, faces class A misdemeanor charges for battery and domestic abuse for which she could serve a maximum sentence of nine months in jail, a $10,000 fine or both.

According to court documents, Wisconsin Rapids Police were dispatched to a residence on 200 block of 6th Street S. at 11:56 AM on July 24.

Upon arrival officers encountered two females who said they were roommates with St. Peter. One roommate said she had been arguing with St. Peter. The roommate, who had just moved in, left the argument and returned to her bedroom. She said St. Peter followed her to the bedroom and forced herself through the door, yelling.

St. Peter than reportedly punched her roommate in the face four times and pushed her on the bed which the roommate said was painful.

St. Peter said she wanted the new roommate to be kicked out of the home and that she had just signed the lease. Police informed her that since the roommates name was on the lease they couldn’t legally kick her hout.

“Well forget I told you that and kick her out,” St. Peter said, according to police.

St. Peter also told police that her roommate had choked her though no evidence of that was reported.

St. Peter was released on a $2,500 signature bond under the condition that she make no contact with the roommate.

She returns to Branch 3 of Wood County Circuit Court on September 25 at 9:00 AM for a pre-trial conference.

Four days after the incident with one roommate, police responded to an incident between St. Peter and the other roommate present on July 24.

On July 28, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Chestnut street where St. Peter’s second roommate reported that the defendant had stolen her phones and put them in a trash can across the street.

The victim told police that St. Peter refused to give the phones back and had punched, kicked and shoved her multiple times. A female witness on the scene confirmed the victim’s story and said that she had tried to break them up.

When police spoke with St. Peter, she claimed she didn’t take the phones or fight with the victim. Police noted she appeared intoxicated. She refused to return the phones multiple times.

For this incident, faces misdemeanor charges for theft, bail jumping and disorderly conduct with a maximum sentence of nine months in jail, a $10,000 fine or both.

She was released on a $500 signature bond.

St. Peter has not pleaded either way for the aforementioned charges.

For these charges, she returns to Branch 3 of Wood County Circuit Court at 9:00 AM on September 25 for a pre-trial conference and a 12-person jury trial is schedule for 8:15 AM on October 21.
