Lincoln HS Students to Honor Veterans
For the City Times
Lincoln High School students are using their wood working skills to honor deceased local veterans.
Vietnam Veterans of America Central Wisconsin Chapter 101 has teamed up with the SkillsUSA students at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids to make flag cases for the flags that are placed on deceased veteran’s caskets. These flags and cases will be presented to the families of deceased veterans.
Veterans Day is an official United States federal holiday that is observed annually on November 11, honoring veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each students excel by providing educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.
On November 10 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the SkillsUSA students will be working on the flag cases in the Lincoln High School wood working shop. This partnership focuses on the students and their service to the community by making these flag cases that often times remain for generations with the family of the deceased veteran.
