A Wisconsin Rapids woman who was caught with heroin in her possession faces felony charges for narcotics possession.

Dioneshay Banks, 27, is charged with possession of narcotic drugs, a felony with a maximum sentence of up to three years, six months imprisonment, or a $10,000 fine or both if convicted.

According to court documents, on October 15 a Wisconsin Rapids Police officer was at Riverview Hospital for an unrelated matter when a concerned nurse approached him regarding Banks. She told the officer she’d found a small aluminum package in Banks’ belongings containing a substance that looked and smiled like heroin.

Banks was at the hospital for her own medical reasons.

When the officer spoke with Banks, she admitted possessing the substance and knew it was drugs but wasn’t sure what kind.

“I forgot I had it on me,” she said according to the criminal complaint.

The unknown substance was tested and found to be heroin.

Banks is free on a $250 cash bond issued on October 15. Banks returns to court again for a preliminary hearing which has not yet been scheduled.
