A Wisconsin Rapids man is charged with robbery after allegedly stealing a woman’s purse.

David Krezinski, 31, is charged with felonious robbery with use of force which carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years imprisonment, or a $50,000 fine or both if convicted.

According to court documents, at 12:30 AM on August 8 a Wisconsin Rapids Police officer was dispatched to the 300 block of 13th Ave. S to meet with a female victim regarding an alleged robbery.

The woman said she was walking northbound on 13 Ave. S when a light colored van pulled up next to her and three men got out. She recognized one of the men as Krezinski.

Krezinski allegedly grabbed the victim from behind, pulled her purse from her person, got in the van and drove away. This reportedly caused the woman some pain.

Earlier the same day, the victim was visiting her friend where Krezinski had also been present. She said he knew she’d have money because she had mentioned she was going to cash a check later that day. She estimated there was $40 to $50 in the purse along with a cell phone.

Police called the missing phone and asked for the victim. The man who answered, identified by voice as Krezinski, answered and said she wasn’t available but he did not hang up on the officer.

Krezinski’s next appearance in Wood County Circuit Court has not been scheduled.
