The Central Wisconsin Cultural Center (CWCC) is offering new activities this year, including mew exhibits, classes, and workshops. It is the mission of the Central Wisconsin Cultural Center, Inc. to take a leadership role in enhancing the appreciation of the arts and ensuring the cultural vitality of the arts in the Central Wisconsin area.

At the CWCC are art exhibits from local and nationally recognized artists of media. CWCC also offers classes, workshops and seminars for all ages in a wide variety of visual and musical arts.  Upcoming classes include beekeeping, ceramic mugs, and wheel spinning yarn.

An Introduction to Honeybee Beekeeping is a class offered in January to teens and adults.  It is offered in conjunction with the Central Wisconsin Beekeeping Association who will be teaching the class and answering questions.  This will be the first of five classes in 2016 on every aspect the beginning honeybee beekeeper needs to know to build, place, and support a hive, along with loading the honeybees.

Ceramic mugs is another class offered.  Tom Lindsley teaches students how to make ceramic mugs for soup or beverages. Children under 15 must have parental supervision.

Introduction to wheel spinning yarn is offered by Andrea Mielke Schroer, who instructs students in the use of spinning wheels to make custom yarn.  No previous spinning experience is required.

CWCC also has artwork available for purchase including prints, jewelry, glass items and original artworks on canvas, paper, and fiber.

CWCC is located at 240 Johnson St. in Wisconsin Rapids and can be emailed at [email protected]
