A 46-year-old man is charged with his fifth OWI offense after police say he was found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Monte Condrack, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with operating while intoxicated, and it is his fifth charged offense. According to police reports, on Oct. 1, 2015, an officer observed Condrack not wearing a seatbelt and initiated a traffic stop by 16th St. and Pepper Ave.
The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, and observed that Condrack’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot. The officer asked Condrack to perform field sobriety tests, but Condrack refused to take them. After placing Condrack under arrest, he was escorted to Riverview hospital, where blood alcohol tests would conclude that Condrack had a blood alcohol level of .223, well above the legal limit.
If convicted, Condrack faces up to six years imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines. A plea hearing is scheduled for Mar. 4.
