For the City Times

The Sandhill Wildlife Open House will be held rain or shine on Saturday, Apr. 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Hosted by the Friends of Sandhill (FOS), they are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting outdoor recreation and interpretive programs at Sandhill. University of Wisconsin students will explain their current research of ruffed grouse, fishers and porcupines. Kathy McGrath will be on hand to share her expertise on tagging and releasing monarch butterflies.

2016 exhibits and workshops of Sandhill will also be featured, as well as guided tours of the Trumpeter Trail, and information on the central Wisconsin elk herd.

Activities for children will include face painting, butterfly activity sheets and masks, and a scavenger hunt.

Unique wildlife photos by the FOS will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served at no charge, though donations are accepted.

The Sandhill Wildlife Area is located on County Rd. X, one mile south of Babcock. Signs will be located at the junction of Highway 80 and County Rd. X to lead the way to the property.
