WISCONSIN RAPIDS — If you see emergency lights and personnel in the area of Chestnut St. and Dewey on Thursday, be aware that it’s only a training exercise.

Wood County will partner with the City of Wisconsin Rapids, Assumption High School, and Aspirus Hospital to host an Emergency Preparedness Full Scale Exercise on Thursday, Aug. 17. This will be held in the area of Assumption High School and Aspirus Hospital, 445 Chestnut St. and 410 Dewey St., from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

According to a statement made through a press release by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department:

“We wish to make the public aware that this is a training exercise only and to advise the community of increased activity for emergency response vehicle traffic throughout the exercise area including Aspirus Hospital, Assumption High School and East Jr. High School.”

Many will be on hand representing emergency and medical personnel, as well as law enforcement in the training exercise. Access around the school could be limited during this time.

For more information, please contact the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department at 715-423-4444.
