Wisconsin Rapids area teams went 2-for-3 on Friday night, giving one with their first win of the season.

Papermakers Win Big on the Road

After losing last week to Lodi 56-6, Nekoosa would defeat Boscobel 56-6 to pick up their first win of the year.

Quarterback Kyle Olson went for a 59-yard touchdown run right out the gate to put Nekoosa up 7-0, and after two quick touchdowns by running back Dylan Bills, including a 60-yarder, Nekoosa never looked back. Wide receiver Brandon Wolf grabbed two touchdowns on the night, with Dakota Frazier and Trent Waltenburg contributing one of each.

Nekoosa led 37-6 at halftime, and to seal the deal, Dylan Bills ran from 44 yards to find the endzone to put the Papermakers up 44-6. Last minute touchdowns by Riley Dye and Jace Lobner would make it a final of 56-6.

Kyle Olson finishes 5-for-5 with 135 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night. Breakout Dylan Bills ran for an impressive 224 yards on 14 carries with 3 touchdowns.

Next week the Papermakers look to continue this momentum as they travel to Wisconsin Dells High School on Friday.

Assumption Picks Up Much Needed Win Against Athens

After 353 of total yards for the Assumption Royals on Friday night, they hope the last two shutouts are behind them.

Quarterback/running back Teddy Ashbeck continued to be the centerpiece of the Royals offense, picking up one touchdown and 132 total yards in a 27-21 win over Athens High School. Not to be out-done, Aden Eisen would add in two touchdowns on the night, as well as running back Cole Statz ran in one of his own.

This brings the Royals to 2-2 on the year, as they head into next week’s home game confident as they take on Abbotsford.

Red Raiders Get Rocked on the Road

After an impressive 48-7 win over Oshkosh North last week, the Red Raiders were out-gunned on the road against an admirable Neenah squad. A first quarter punt return for touchdown, followed by a 97-yard touchdown run Nennah’s Alec Elkin would set the stage for Friday night.

Elkin would contribute two more touchdowns in a 44-0 win over Lincoln.

Isaiah Westfall was held to just 24 yards receiving on the night, with quarterback Jacob Mancl going 8-for-22 with 84 yards and two interceptions. The Neenah defense simply had the Red Raider’s number.

Breakout star Isaac Pelot still had a solid night rushing for 176 yards on 24 carries in the losing effort. Next week Lincoln hopes to rebound as they take their 2-2 record into Wausau to take on Wausau East.
