WISCONSIN RAPIDS — With both Wisconsin Rapids teams 5-3 on the year, a strong finish is in order for both squads this weekend.
Red Raiders to Host Evergreens in “Military Game”
Veterans, along with current members of the military will be on hand to root on Lincoln this Friday night, as they take on D.C. Everest in their final game of the regular season. The 5-3 Red Raiders will look to rebound from last week’s muddy loss to SPASH, but a loss from Stevens Point this week combined with a Rapids win will mean a Valley West Conference title.
Lincoln has already clinched a playoff birth, but will look to bring home a division title on the heels of running backs Isaac Pelot and Nash Coombs, both of whom have found paydirt on multiple occasions over the past two weeks. Star wideout Isaiah Westfall will seek another big game like the had had against Wausau West where he scored three touchdowns, as the Red Raiders are favored to go over the 2-6 Evergreens, who were shutout last week 35-0 to Marshfield.
Kickoff is on Friday night at SWC 2000 Football Field at 7:00 p.m
Assumption Seeks Fourth Straight Win
The Royals have won three straight games, and with the return of quarterback Jake Sullivan, Assumption looks to make it four in a row against Thorp on Thursday night. Assumption is 5-3 and playoff bound, as they join Cloverwood division leaders Loyal and Abbotsford in that class. The 3-5 Thorp squad will have a tough matchup against a Royals team who didn’t allow a point last week, and with Sullivan behind center, and the consistent play of Cole Statz, the Royals are favored to pick up their sixth win of the year.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 on Thursday night at SWC 2000 Football Field.
Papermakers Look to Close out Season With a Win
It’s been a tough road for Nekoosa this year, but the 2-6 Papermakers will hope to close out the year on a positive note, as they head to Adams-Friendship to play the winless Green Devils. Kyle Olsen has thrown a touchdown in nearly every game this season, and Dylan Bills has stepped up as the premier running back for the squad.
If you want to make the trip to Adams to catch Nekoosa in their final game of the season, kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night.
