Port Edwards Kid Chosen Among Other ‘Kids From Wisconsin’ Group
For the City Times
MILWAUKEE — The 50th season of ‘Kids From Wisconsin’ travels around the state this summer, and a Port Edwards native is among them.
“Becoming a 2018 ‘Kid From Wisconsin’ is a distinct honor that is only shared with thirty-six talented performers from every corner of our state,” said Kids From Wisconsin Executive Director Tina Weiss. “Their selection was made by highly professional and impartial judges. The factors that placed them ahead of so many other proficient performers were musical superiority, high moral character, personality and ability to accept disciplined direction.”
Port Edwards native Megan Shields is one of just 36 kids to make the cut. According to Weiss, these kids have a grave responsibility as an ambassador of the community and the state.
“We are confident they will acquit themselves well in this important role. The experience they will gain in the program will be immeasurable, and should be helpful in all their future years in or out of music.”
Kids From Wisconsin hits the road from June 21 – Aug. 18. You can catch the live performance on July 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center of Wisconsin Rapids located at 1801 16th St. South.
