Rafters to Bring On a Louisville Cardinal, Seton Hall Pirate and Northeastern Husky for 2018

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Today the Rafters announced the signing Louisville OF Ethan Stringer, Seton Hall RHP Hunter Waldis and Northeastern RHP Josh Winkler.

OF Ethan Stringer is in his sophomore season with the University Louisville Cardinals. Stringer is batting .267/.351/.407 through 34 games. The 6-foot 195-pound outfielder has 23 hits (eight for extra-bases including six doubles and two home runs), 17 runs scored and 14 RBI in 86 at bats. The native of Covington, Kentucky also sports a solid glove with just three errors all season. Stringer played four seasons of prep baseball at Beechwood High School under head coach Bob Mullins. The right-handed batter was ranked the No. 6 best prospect in Kentucky’s Class of 2016 according to Prep Baseball Report, was also ranked No. 11 in Kentucky by Perfect Game.

Hunter Waldis.

Hunter Waldis is a freshman with the Seton Hall University Pirates. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound right-hander has seen eight appearances in his first year of collegiate action. A native of Far Hills, NJ, Waldis attacks the strike zone with 15 punchouts in eight total innings. The righty was a four-year letter winner at Delbarton High School. In his final two years at Delbarton, Waldis sported a 1.37 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 84.2 innings while helping Delbarton High claim back-to-back conference titles and even a state title in his senior year.

Josh Winkler

Josh Winkler is a redshirt freshman with the Northeastern Huskies. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Winkler had made seven appearances this year throwing a total of 11.2 innings. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound righty has struck out eight with a 3.86 ERA and one save. Winkler attended Punahou School for two years before transferring to St. George’s where he was a four-year letter winner in baseball. The hurler was also a two-time MVP at St. George’s, named to 2016 First-Team All-Interscholastic School League and was a 2015 Second-Team All-ISL honoree.

Stringer, Waldis, Winkler and the rest of the 2018 Wisconsin Rapids Rafters will begin their season on the road against the Madison Mallards on Tuesday, May 29th. The Home Opener is slated for Friday, June 1st against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The entire 2018 Rafters schedule is available at www.raftersbaseball.com.
