WISCONSIN RAPIDS – An 18-year-old Wood County Jail inmate died on Aug. 19 from an apparent suicide.

Wood County Jail Administrator Lieutenant Theodore Ashbeck says a staff member discovered the inmate who had tried to hang himself shortly before midnight on Aug. 18. Staff members of the Wood County Jail performed CPR until emergency medical staff members arrived. The teen was taken to a local hospital later that night where he died Aug. 19.

Friends and family have identified the victim as Trequelle Vann.

It’s the fifth suicide at the jail in the last two years.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is conducting an investigation, along with an internal investigation from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.
